Hi, my name is Surana and I'm from South Africa.
Thank you so much for all the letters that I just read! I feel a lot better now knowing that there are women out there with the same problem as me.
I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago, my whole world just came tumbling down.
I have this wonderful husband to whom I've been married to for almost 2 years now and the only present that I cannot give him is children.
I also went to my OBGYN and she had me on Clomid for 5 months but I got so emotional because of the treatment that I decided to stop my treatment. I had all the symptoms of PCOS: facial hair, irregular periods and so forth. What makes me mad is that my house doctor never picked up on what was wrong with me and prescribed the Pill to me.
I found out about a week ago that my coleague is 6 weeks along. As if my life wasn't hard enough! I cried myself to sleep that night wishing that it was me that was pregnant instead of her. Why is it that when you want to have a baby all you see is babies, pregnant women and new mommies?
Well anyway, I'm going to try a doctor that specializes in herbal medicine next and if that doesn't work we will definitely adopt. Please send me any tips and success stories if you suffer from PCOS and had a successful pregnancy at suranaengelbrecht(at)gmail.com

Ed. Note: Eating a very healthy diet that is low in refined carbohydrates, and getting a lot of exercise, will help your body to balance your hormones and thus have a better chance at a pregnancy.
A good reference book on this subject is Dr. Dunne's "The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility".
