I have been following the PCOS diet for only 5 days now, and I already feel better. I jumped on the scale tonight because I felt so good and it shows I have lost 4 pounds. What?!!! I haven't shown lost pounds without at least a MONTH of strenuous exercise and dieting since I was in high school.
I have struggled with weight, fatigue and hirsutism from PCOS. I was desperately searching for answers on my weight and infertility issues when I found your website.
I grew up as a healthy, athletic girl playing every sport available to me. I used to think that overweight people were just lazy. Then, I gained 40 pounds in about 3 months during my 20's. I couldn't figure out what had changed. I have continued to steadily gain over a decade and last week weighed 200 lbs. (5' 4"). Through exercise alone I haven't been able to overcome my weight problem.
I have tried adding low cal, low fat diets, but they didn't seem to help. I grew more fatigued and added more weight.
I gave up on myself many times, only to try again at my husband's encouragement. Now in my mid 30's I want to have children. After 2 1/2 years trying, I took Clomid and finally got pregnant. But at almost 10 weeks, I lost the baby.
My doctor NEVER told me that there was an increased chance of miscarriage with PCOS! I thought my main hurdle was getting pregnant.
I am determined to do all that I can to increase my odds of carrying a child full-term. Now I have hope again!
Thank you so much for this book! Many thanks to you, Nancy and Bill, for the thorough research and carefully planned meal program.
I don't even think about what I can't eat. I only rejoice in the opportunity to see myself at a healthy weight, energy, and someday a health child!
I look forward to writing you again with further results of your program.
